Infinium Logistics Solutions (ILS) is delighted to announce that Paul Wood has joined the team as Head of Operations UK – North. Paul is based in Leeds and will support all the ILS channels (Parking, Urban Logistics Hubs, Out of Home Delivery and EV Solutions), but will also be focused on some specific client opportunities and assessing urban hubs that are attractive to our client base. Paul has over 20 years’ experience of operational management within Hermes. His most recent role required him to identify and launch new delivery hubs across the UK.
Please join me in welcoming another Paul, although he is happy with ‘Woody’.
We also caught up with Paul and asked him a few questions about his start with ILS…..
Describe your job in three words.
So far….cold ( if it had been four words then I would have put Bloody cold!!! ). Words that describe my role would be Operations, Processes and Assessment.
What does your job involve?
Reacting to the ever-changing e-commerce world and liaising with internal and external clients, owners and landlords to maximise their assets in delivering and implementing bespoke logistical solutions.
What is your background?
Engineering and sheet metal work from being an apprentice from school. Coming up through the ranks of chargehand, foreman, drawing office and estimating. Running my own company for 10 years specialising in air conditioning and sheet metal fabrication before selling up and joining Hermes for the last 15 years and finishing their as Senior Tactical Support Manager.
Why were you attracted to Infinium?
Infinium offered the chance of staying within the logistics business and possibly within my comfort zone. But…..its not just parcel delivery, it feels like its at the forefront and cutting edge of where logistics is going and to be heading, so a great feeling to be part of.
What was your first piece of work at Infinium?
I carried out 45 Parcel Locker surveys across the North for Jonathan. I visited different car parks in Cities and Towns, plus some car parks at various train stations to identify locations for locker installations whilst walking the customer journey for the initial installation, parcel replenishment and pick up/drop off.
What is one of the projects you are working on right now?
Urban Hubs Audits of new sites for various clients – even crossing the border to the South.
Best thing about being part of the ILS Team?
Infinium already feels like a breath of fresh air to work for and I have been made to feel incredibly welcome.
Something no one knows about you.
I watercolour paint and am a fair-weather archer owning my own recurve bows.
